  Weeks later I discovered an oil leak. Again, I accept that I bought a used bike and asked my local Honda dealer to investigate and repair. They discovered that it was highly likely that the bike had been involved in an accident and another motor from another crashed bike had been fitted. The lower crank case on this motor had been badly welded back together. The crank cover had been stuck on with layers of silicone which had finally given way and had been spraying oil over my boots, and more seriously, the back wheel.

  Sure; CMC attract some criticism, but that's to be expected given the volume of business they do (and the propensity for people to only write complaints). From my experience, whenever things have gone wrong, CMC have done their best to correct the issue and apologise.

  So if you are considering a purchase from here, get it checked out by a professional or, go elsewhere. They are not concerned with your safety and certainly don’t respect their customers. I’m just glad that I didn’t have an accident and get seriously hurt or worse.

  I contacted CMC and asked to come to an arrangement. I was fobbed off and following mediation with consumer affairs CMC were advised that they have an obligation to provided me with what I had paid for. They declined to do this so my next step is to go to court and fight for what I paid for, a safe and usable bike. This bike now sits in my garage and is unusable as the parts are unavailable for such a repair.

  I've bought and sold all my bikes through CMC over the last 15 years. Generally excellent customer service - friendly, flexible, and many of the staff are bike riders who are happy to offer share their experience and opinions on equipment.

  Very helpful staff, told me everything I needed to know about the handguards and tail pack I was looking for, staff member pointed out 30% discount to me when considering the options and price was lower than eBay or online sellers by a fair margin.

  I bought a bike last year trusting that I would be sold a safe and roadworthy machine. It was an older bike so I didn’t expect something that had just come off of the assembly line, but I did expect it to be safe. Upon taking delivery I immediately discovered the engine number was incorrect and this prevented me from registering the bike. CMC wanted nothing to do with it from that point and were less than helpful. After checking the bike wasn’t stolen I provided a stat dec to declare I was unaware of the engine change, registered the bike and moved on.
